Skip Coomber: Chief Executive Officer
Skip Coomber, CEO of HEROware, is a lifetime entrepreneur with a legal and investment background. Skip was the founding partner of a law firm, which had offices in San Diego and downtown Los Angeles, California. Subsequently, for over a decade, Skip was the CEO of a corporation that managed the investments, finances and business affairs of one wealthy family. In addition, Skip was co-founder and President of 1800Medicine, Inc., a start-up company which is a provider of medical services and products to the Medicare population, and of which he is still a shareholder and board member.
Skip has investments in the hedge fund, venture capital, private equity, real estate and wine industries (Terravant, Inc., INCEPTION wine and COOMBER FAMILY RANCH wine) and has enjoyed a full career in the business and investment worlds, including sitting on the board of a public corporation (NASDAQ-Big Dog Holdings, Inc., subsequently, The Walking Company Holdings, Inc.) and serving as one of nine trustees on the now $9 billion San Diego County pension fund. Skip regularly speaks around the world at various investment conferences and has served on the boards of many non-profit corporations, including the Feeding America San Diego Food Bank, the San Diego Blood Bank Foundation, The Exceptional Children’s Foundation (for “At Risk” children) and the Stevens Cancer Division of the Scripps Health Foundation in San Diego, California.
Lynn Shourds: President and CTO (Founder)
Mr. Lynn Shourds, President & CTO, has been in the IT industry for over 17 years. The past 9 years was spent at Double-Take Software in various roles. Most recently Lynn was Global Director of Double-Take Flex product management. In this role Lynn ran this business unit worldwide directing product development, product marketing, sales, and public relations, along with develop and train world-wide engineering teams on proof of concept methodologies, along with best practices for implementations Prior to this role Mr. Shourds directed sales and engineering services for the channel in Western North America. Managing 400+ resellers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico Lynn delivered targeted engineering and sales trainings to small, medium, and large resellers such as CDW, Insight, and Dell. Lynn started at Double-Take Software in 2001 as an engineer, thus giving Lynn invaluable insight to this backup and disaster recovery market space. Lynn is well known as a business continuity expert and has spoken at numerous business continuity and disaster recovery seminars and technology summits.
Prior to Double-Take Software Mr. Shourds spent 3 years as the Director of Western Sales and Engineering for Datawatch Software managing a team of sales people and engineers. Before Datawatch Software, Lynn spent years in the channel working as an engineer and sales manager for reseller companies such as IKON Technology Solutions and MicroAge.
Lynn has been married for over 20 years to his wife, Teresa, and has one son, Solomon, who is graduating from Long Beach State in the Fall of 2010. Lynn’s hobbies include being a single-digit handicap golfer and an accomplished musician and singer.
Fred Mayne: Executive Vice President of World Wide Sales and Marketing
As World-Wide Vice President of Sales and Marketing at HEROware, Fred Mayne provides direction for World-Wide sales and distribution, channel programs, branding, advertising and marketing. Prior to HEROware, Fred spent over 25 years in various roles in the computer industry at Cisco, Dell, Merisel and IKON. His knowledge and understanding of the computer resale channel, sales management, sales, strategic planning and business development is critical for HEROware to gain rapid market share. As a former Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a start-up, he strategically moved the company from selling direct to end users to the reseller channel, growing sales by 800% and the reseller channel to over 600 international resellers.
Fred has a BA from Bentley University where he majored in Marketing/Management. Fred has been married for over 16 years to his wife, Lori, and has two daughters, who are exceptional students and athletes. Fred’s hobbies include golfing, racquetball and mountain biking.
Bob Erickson: Chief Operating Officer
Joining HEROware as COO in January 2011, Bob Erickson will focus on scaling operations across the company to support significant growth. Bob has over 23 years of experience implementing business and technology solutions as a Partner at Accenture, and as a Corporate Vice President and General Manager for Avanade’s US West Region. He has extensive experience in helping companies succeed thru technology and business process change. He has driven significant growth of consulting services organizations while consistently improving the bottom line results. Bob has maintained a high level of customer focus throughout his career, running large scale accounts to deliver results and highly satisfied customers.
Bob has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Economics from UC Irvine. He has been married for 17 years and has a daughter and a son. Bob enjoys cycling, golfing, skiing and home renovation.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Company currently has five members on the Board of Directors. Three of the Directors are the principal officers of the Company, Skip Coomber (CEO), Lynn Shourds (President, CTO and Founder) and Fred Mayne (EVP Sales & Marketing). Skip Coomber serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Fred Mayne serves as Secretary.
Joe Beery-Board Member
Joe Beery is Chief Information Officer for Life Technologies (NASDAQ “LIFE”), a role he has held since taking the position at Invitrogen beginning September 2008. He has spearheaded the implementation of IT programs to support the merger of Invitrogen and Applied Biosystems and the seamless integration of systems supporting a 50,000-product portfolio.
Prior to Invitrogen, Mr. Beery held the executive position of Chief Information Officer at US Airways and America West Airlines. Previously, Mr. Beery spent ten years at Motorola Semiconductor, holding various positions in the computer integrated manufacturing group. Mr. Beery also served as a manufacturing and software engineer at NV Philips in Albuquerque, N.M. Mr. Beery holds a B.S. in business administration and business computer systems from the University of New Mexico.
Alan Shafer-Board Member
ALAN SHAFER- Alan Shafer,Esq., began his legal career in 1978 as an entertainment and sports lawyer, representing clients such as Jerry Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Kings. Concurrent with the technology revolution of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, he went on to develop a thriving intellectual property practice that included many medium to large domestic and international corporate clients. Eventually, he transitioned to the role of Vice Chairman, Chief Executive - Strategic Planning & Business Affairs for Nantucket Corporation, a Los Angeles based software company focused on application development software and related products. At Nantucket, he was responsible for all strategic planning and expansion decisions at the Company, exercising direct supervision over all subsidiaries located in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Ultimately, he designed and executed a strategy for the accelerated international expansion and subsequent sale of company to Computer Associates.
