I recently made  a decision to venture out on my own and take my Enterprise Class experience and expertise to the SMB marketplace. One day a friend in the industry told me some new device was going to hit market that had features and functionality previously only justified in large Enterprise environments where price was not a concern. I soon hear about an emerging company called HEROware with this Backup Continuity Appliance (BCA). Once I read it uses a technology that I was not only familiar with, but is widely accepted and proven, it  became increasingly intriguing. I arrange for a demo. As I witness the BCA replicate data in real time without performance issues,  I must say I was very impressed. The demonstrator then pulls power on the source server. This simulates one of the worst things that could happen in a production environment. Commonly resulting in hours of restoration of corrupted files and databases. Within seconds the BCA notifies the Admin of a failure and asks if a failover was necessary. The demonstrator clicks yes and the device starts the failover process. Within a few minutes the BCA restarts and boots with a complete System State Restore of the source server without any loading of device drivers, or any intervention by the admin what so ever,including MSExchange.I was blown away. Server restoration being my specialty, I understood how an incredibly difficult that process can be.  I not only wanted one immediately for my own office.  Look for future products developed by HEROware you'll be glad you did..
